What is breathwork?

Breathwork is a holistic approach to healing and self-development that utilizes specific breathing techniques to promote physical, mental, and emotional well-being. This ancient practice has been used for thousands of years by cultures all over the world, from the yogic pranayama exercises of India to the shamanic traditions of South America. In recent years, breathwork has gained popularity as a complementary therapy for various conditions, including anxiety, depression, chronic pain, grief, and others.

The purpose behind the specific breathwork techniques that we will be using:

The basic principle behind breathwork is that our breath is intimately linked to our physical and emotional states. By learning how to manipulate the breath via different techniques, we can regulate our heart rate, blood pressure, and other bodily functions; as well as manage nervous system responses and create a deeper sense of emotional awareness. There are many different types of breathwork techniques, each with its own unique benefits and goals. The type of technique that is used depends on a person’s desired outcome and the intention behind their practice.

At Vida Healing we use breathwork techniques to help our clients deeply connect with their mind-body system in a way that can help them to process past grief, trauma, and unresolved events/emotions.  

At times, the confusion we experience in life can stem from the inner "noise" that is created from being too stuck in the past or a hectic, busy present that can distract us from our own intuition.

We create a space where you can put aside the to-do lists, million post-it notes, and the needs of others for a few hours so that you can reconnect with your heart.

We use conscious connected breathing techniques to safely guide you to connect with and release anything that your mind-body system is ready to process.

Your breathwork session can also help you to deepen your sense of self-trust. Your breath is a tool that you already carry with you and any insights or wisdom that you realize through a breathwork journey is information that you already had inside of you. All we do is create a space for you to access it and empower you to trust your own inner wisdom. 

While considered a great tool for emotional healing, the beauty of breathwork is that it also facilitates healing at the somatic level. So many of us feel our emotions on a deep, physical level. Think tight shoulders when we are stressed, stomach aches when we are anxious, and heart fluttering when we are excited. Breathwork is one of the few healing modalities that allow you to simultaneously connect with your mind and your body so that you, as a whole, can move forward.
